🎹 Meet Professor Besser!

Scott Besser is a nationally recognized pianist, composer, and educator whose work blends musical excellence with an extraordinary gift for teaching. With over two decades of private and institutional instruction experience, Scott has taught hundreds of students of all ages and abilities—from enthusiastic five-year-olds to dedicated adult beginners—nurturing musical growth through a teaching style that is as engaging as it is effective.

As a full-time piano instructor at the Fergus and Clark Academy for the Performing Arts in Stroudsburg, PA, Scott is known for his energy, humor, and ability to personalize instruction to meet each student where they are. “As a teacher,” he says, “you’re a cheerleader, entertainer, guide, and knowledge dispenser. My job is to make it stick—and make them want more.”

Scott's compositions are specifically designed to support musical development through joy, structure, and creativity. His educational pieces reflect a deep understanding of technique, phrasing, and musical imagination, making them ideal candidates for National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) festival repertoire. In fact, Scott has served as a judge for NFMC composition competitions at the national, regional, and local levels since 2000.

A graduate of James Madison University with a degree in music industry and piano performance, Scott has also completed graduate-level work in jazz studies at East Stroudsburg University. He is a sought-after performer and music director, with credits ranging from soloist with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra to music direction for Pocono Lively Arts and Shawnee Opera.

Whether accompanying singers, directing musicals, or writing imaginative new piano works, Scott brings the same core belief to every aspect of his musical life: music enhances your life, and sharing it—whether in a lesson or on a stage—is a sacred joy.
